South Coast Carriers (SCC) seeks an energetic, entry level Outside Sales Representative to win new freight and project logistics customers in Greater Houston. You’ll prospect door to door, cold call, and cold email shippers that move hot shot, flatbed, and over dimension freight. Success is measured by new account revenue and growth. The position receives a tiered commission structure that combines a salary with accelerating, commissions designed to reward top performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Generate ≥ 40 cold calls + 50 cold emails per day.
Conduct 8–10 face to face prospect visits weekly.
Build and manage a 300 prospect funnel in our CRM.
Own new accounts for at least 12 months; grow revenue, lanes, and modes.
Provide quarterly business reviews, lane studies, and market intel.
Coordinate with Dispatch to solve service issues.
Relay customer feedback to Operations team.
Performance Expectations & Milestones
Your First 30 Days (Weeks 1–4)
Finish your training. Learn our services, pricing, and the software you’ll use.
Make the calls and emails. Aim for about 40 cold calls and 50 cold emails every workday.
Build your list. Add 50 new companies to the CRM with complete contact info.
Set real meetings. Book at least 5 discovery meetings with prospects.
Open your funnel. Have $10,000 in quotes sitting out with customers by Day 30.
Days 31–60 (Weeks 5–8)
Keep the outreach pace going; same daily calls and emails.
Close your first 4 loads worth $5,000 or more in total.
Grow your funnel. Make sure the value of open quotes is about twice your Month 2 sales target (example: $20 k in quotes for a $10 k target).
Days 61–90 (Weeks 9–13)
Plan your territory weekly. Show your manager a clear plan every Monday.
Go after a bigger fish. Identify one larger project or high value customer and start talks.
Hit real revenue. Bring in at least 60 % of your Monthly target.
Keep a healthy pipeline.
Compensation & Benefits (Tiered Plan):
Base Pay $24,000 / year (paid weekly).
Tiered Commission Paid monthly on collected revenue:
5 % on monthly revenue up to $40,000
8 % on $40,001+
Tiers reset every calendar month.
On Target Earnings (OTE) - $50,000 – $65,000 / year
Company Car Business use company vehicle ($600/month value) + fuel card.
Paid Time Off 10 PTO days (effective after 1 year) + 7 holidays.
Account Ownership & “House” Policy
Protected Ownership:
Rep earns full commission for 12 months from first billed load or until their YTD revenue on the account hits $250 k, whichever is later.
Inactivity Trigger:
90 consecutive days with no revenue.
Maturity Trigger:
After the protected period, if 3 month average revenue growth < 10 % ➜ account eligible to convert to House.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or higher.
0-3 years of B2B sales (logistics or industrial a plus).
Hunter mentality—comfortable with cold outreach and in person prospecting.
Valid TX driver’s license & clean driving record.
Strong written/verbal communication and basic math skills.
Preferred Traits
Knowledge of freight terminology (flatbed, hot shot, OS/OD).
Familiarity with Houston industrial corridors (ship channel, refineries, fabricators).
Resilient, coachable, and data driven.
